Quotes and cost approval before work
When to give a quote, how customers approve it, what "Wait for the go-ahead" means, and what to do if the job grows.
Updated
Some of our customers approve costs above a set limit before work starts. Your quote is how they decide.
Giving a quote
- When you accept an offer in the supplier portal, you can add a quote with your ETA.
- On the job’s page, you can give or revise a quote at any time while attending: for example once you have seen the vehicle.
- Our team may also record a quote you give them by phone.
A quote can be a single amount, or built from a call-out fee, an hourly rate and the hours you expect, and a per-km rate for travel. Amounts are before GST.
The go-ahead
- If the customer’s account doesn’t need approval, or your quote is within their limit, you have the go-ahead as soon as you are on the job.
- If your quote is above the limit, the job shows Wait for the go-ahead. The customer is asked to approve it, and our team follows up. Please don’t start chargeable work until the go-ahead shows.
- When the customer approves, the go-ahead appears on the job.
If the job grows
An approval covers any later quote up to the amount approved. If you find more work and your revised quote goes above that, the go-ahead is withdrawn and the customer is asked again. Revise your quote in the portal and message us with what you found, so the customer can decide quickly.
If the customer declines
The customer gives a reason. Our team will contact you about what happens next: a revised quote, a different repair, or releasing you from the job.
Your invoice
Invoice for the work that was approved. Invoices that don’t match the approved work take longer to check. See Submitting your invoice and getting paid.
